Ashika is a 3rd year marketing and entrepreneurship student at Mount Royal University. Fashion has always been a core part of her life and it wasn't until she started doing her research, that she realized the detrimental effects of the industry. Together with Diana her co-founder, they founded Unravelled Yarn, a zero-waste yarn company that transforms excess corporately branded t-shirts into high quality t-shirt yarn. Through the development of this company, they provide a sustainable disposal alternative for large companies to recycle their unused branded shirts, and a high quality craft product for the market. Tanya is the Founder & Co-owner of Fond Boutique, a pop-up consignment shop offering a curated collection of distinct, quality-driven pieces here in Calgary, Alberta. She has spent over 10 years as marketer working closely with organizations in a variety of sectors including fashion and design, to nurture and hone brands. Tanya first developed a passion for ethical fashion during her involvement with a startup clothing company while studying Entrepreneurship & Innovation at The Haskayne School of Business. Through her own passion for sourcing unique and interesting pieces and as a means to offset the ‘fast fashion’ plague, Tanya founded Fond. She hopes that with a shift to appreciating one of a kind, consumers will become more conscious and invest in brands they believe in and pieces that retain their value, and support makers and artisans that take immense pride in their craft.
